The Piedmont Players

The Piedmont Players was started in 2004 by Diane Serra and has continued to change and grow over the past two years.  Our first production was “Holy Cannoli” by John D. Smitherman; this production was very small and took place in the church fellowship hall with no stage, very little scenery, and seating that was not very desirable.

Since then, the Players have held many more plays, and the staging, scenery, seating, and lighting has improved greatly.

The group has also made many changes.  We began with a core group of seven people, including Diane Serra (artistic director), Robert Edquist, Patrick Giglio, Anna Hayes, Bruce Modeen, Jennifer Reinke, and Sara Troland.  Our stage crew has also gone through some changes.  This group has included Nicky Nikhazy (director); Alannah Maxwell, Christina Caggiano, Rachel Walker, and Jodi Giglio (set crew); Carolyn Troland (set design); and Marsha Muir (usher and announcer).  Diane Serra, who was the original artistic director for the Piedmont Players, has moved to West Virginia.  The title of artistic director has been handed to Sara Troland.  Nicky Nikhazy, who was the original director for the Piedmont Players, also moved to West Virginia.  Carolyn Troland is now the director and set designer for the Piedmont Players.
